Jazz legend Lionel Hampton is considered the most important vibraphone-virtuoso in the history of jazz. Viennese Vibist Martin Breinschmid pays tribute to Hamp with a concert program of original Hampton arrangements. Breinschmid leads through the program with biographical details and anecdotes. This program is possible in a big band setup or with a five piece band.
Memories of Swing - The Golden Era of Jazz
Vibist Martin Breinschmid together with trumpeter and bandleader Gerhard Aflenzer and his Broadway Big Band, revive the music of the great bandleaders like Artie Shaw, Chick Webb, Benny Goodman and Lionel Hampton in this new project. The fantastic south african singer Titilayo Adedokun has joined forces with the two gentlemen and the Broadway Big Band to present tunes like Why don't you do right, A Tisket a Tasket, Stardust and Flyin Home. The combination of swinging music and entertainement makes Memories of Swing irresistible for all lovers of classic jazz.
